Well I went and did it........

I bought a car I probably can't afford, sold the chevelle and bought this....
Its a 2006 mustang gt with 20,000 miles ...don't worry, there will be a donation box going up, my old truck wasn't gonna make it through another year with out major shit done, so now I have both........... Call me crazy, plus I gotta be able to make it to next years Pat-Con................   ;)

Oh and if I can't pay, there's always the easy way out......
just kidding

  2. What type of tranny?

Looks like that one is a convertible too. I drive the Mustangs all over hell and back as none of my co-workers ever want to drive em. They are nice cars no matter what year. My only complaint is the seven speed standard ones are a real pain in heavy traffic. First gear is so low they tend to jump forward no matter how easy you are on the clutch.

  4. I'm not a big convertible fan, but I've always wanted one of that generation Mustang.

    Auto or manual trans?

    2. Cool.

I've never owned a convertible, but my '69 Vette had T-Tops, and my X1/9 was a Targa Top.

  7. Real nice to be sure..... But funds being what they are, I opted for a vehicle that gets me into the deep 'boonies" and back (should I wish to come back). That said, back in my younger days I was the proud owner of a 67' convertible Camaro, with a 250 straight six, two speed "power-glide" transmission, and all the pretty ladies my "topless" Camaro would hold on the way to the beach!!
    Enjoy yer' ride my friend...

    1. Thanks Roswell, ya see, I sold my 67 Chevelle, it blew up last year just before mom passed, and now I'm just to damn busy to rebuild the engine. So the funds from that were not gonna just go poof like so many other funds, so I bought this to keep me out of trouble, or get me in it..... ;) The Chevy on the side off my blog is now just a memory......... ;(

  8. DrJim, I deleted your comment by accident, so here's your answer, I put aluminum heads on my big block and one of the screw in studs was threaded wrong, in my wisdom as a great mechanic, I figured an old one would be fine, well it wasn't .. It gave the wrong geometry and was pushing on a valve till it broke, went through the piston, cracked the block and ruined my day ..... So it was both my and procomps fault it happened ... ProComp gave me a new head very cheaply and I got another block, I just didn't have time to fix it now that I'm a home owner........ ;(

  9. OUCH!

When I was building engines, I was always very careful about checking for proper valve train geometry and piston to valve clearance.

I'd "waste" a couple of head gaskets making sure things were correct, but the $20 for gaskets was cheap insurance!

    1. The clearance was fine, I had a 50 cc head gasket, checked everything over and over, I just didn't understand the geometry, it was a hard lesson, I still have a 74 454 block, crank, cast heads, rods, intake and carb so down the road, who knows.... But I guess I'm a ford man for now......... ;)

Let me know how I'm doing, as long as your not a fucking liberal who believes that a little fairy dust will solve all the worlds ills .......;)
